Belgian betting and gaming operator Gaming1 has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire the holding company behind Carousel Group, significantly strengthening its domestic market presence. Under the terms of the transaction, Gaming1 has purchased 100% of the shares in Pac-Man NV, the parent operating company of Carousel Group, for an undisclosed sum. The buyout builds upon an established commercial partnership between Liege-based Gaming1 and Carousel Group that dates back to 2012.

Following completion, the takeover grants Gaming1 direct control over Pac-Man NV’s Belgian gaming licence and digital operations, expanding its online casino footprint at a time of intensifying regulatory adjustments in the country. Gaming1 confirmed that the transaction will not involve the transfer of employees between the respective organisations, ensuring a swift and seamless operational integration. Sylvain Boniver, Chief Operating Officer of Gaming1, highlighted that the transaction bolsters the operator's digital entertainment ecosystem and reinforces its long-term ambition to deliver safe and distinctive gaming experiences in Belgium's regulated framework.

The deal also marks a corporate separation between Carousel Group and 711, one of the premier digital operators in the Netherlands and the sixth largest brand by web traffic according to the Blask Index. Operating under the ownership of the Dutch De Backer family, who previously controlled Pac-Man NV, 711 has offloaded the asset to concentrate resources on its ongoing international expansion across Belgium and Malta. For Gaming1, which already manages 777 as the fifth largest online casino brand in Belgium, absorbing Carousel Group cements its leadership in the competitive European B2C iGaming landscape.
